ReadSpace is a novel social catalog platform based on Augmented-Reality (AR) technology, designed to connect book authors and publishers with readers and users. While it is not the first product in the market, it represents a significant innovation that builds upon existing platforms, and takes advantage of modern, yet under-utilized AR technologies to provide a competitive edge in the industry.
The concept of ReadSpace originated from the ‘Digital Playground for the Online Public’ course, which is part of the ‘Digital Media Design’ MSc program at Edinburgh University. While the initial idea was not fully developed in the coursework, it was intriguing enough to be expanded upon and developed into a standalone project.
